Despite Hyera being an action sports business with roots embedded deep in the beaches and mountainscapes of this world, our headquarters are (inevitably) based within the tangling mass of London. This means as a group we’re well versed in the various parties, festivals and events that take place around the city between the months of May and September each year. Anyone who lives close to the capital will be familiar with the deal – whether it’s slip and slides, open air cinema nights, artisan festivals or aggressively colourful fun runs (we’re sure more than a few of you had a chuckle at the Facebook group that popped up celebrating all this diversity).
What we DON’T have much of in London is action sports. Most of us accept the deal, knowing that ultimately a sacrifice has to be struck in exchange for the convenience of a nearby pub and…well…employment.
Which is why we were all a little bit over-excited when Capacity Events and JBSki got in touch to tell us they’re about to add an extra Saturday of stoke to our summer with the imminent arrival of their new baby, Transitions Festival!
Transitions fuses beach vibes and professional action sports with ground breaking performances from some of the UK’s hottest music artists, to create an awesome all-day party, in the settings of JBSki’s epic island location.
JBSki was host to last year’s awesome Cable Wakeboard Nationals, and sensibly this year they’ve scaled everything up to create an all-day festival, complete with paddleboarding, food village, bars and an actual beach:
Throughout the day there will be three different pro-level skate and wakeboard contests taking place:
Pros & Joe’s: Proving to be one of the best Pro Boat Wakeboard Competitions in the UK Wake scene at present, Pro’s and Joe’s offers an awesome opportunity for semi-pro UK riders to go up against, as well as ride with, International Pro’s competing on the global stage. In teams of 4 riders take to the water captained by a pro attempting to lay down their best runs hoping to be crowned 2015 champions!
Pro’s and Joe’s is an epic comp for spectators as the UK Boys head out on the water pushing their absolute limits when up against such strong competition. Whilst the Pro’s put on an insane show later on in the day.
Transitions Skate Jam: No Extreme Sports Event is complete without the godfather of all Extreme Sports! On 01.08.15 Transitions will showcase some insane UK skate talents in a series of Jams, Demos and Competitions throughout the day! So when you need a break head on over to the ramp and check it out.
Cover of Darkness: This Pro Cable Wakeboard Competition is the final Extreme Sports Spectacle of the day. The Cover of Darkness showcases Professional Cable Wakeboarder’s pushing the boundaries of their sport in a Floodlit Big Air Competition.
All day long our Top 8 Pro’s will have to qualify in an elimination against 8 lower seeded Professional Wakeboarders all hungry for a chance to to prove themselves and throw down during the Main Event.
During their few chances to be crowned the 2015 Cover of Darkness Champion the Transitions Pro’s must ignore the screaming crowds, flame throwers and spot lights as they are judged on the height, technicality and style of their tricks! A Big Kicker Big Air end to the night not to be missed by anyone!
On top of all this, the girls from Glidesoul will be offering Stand Up Paddleboarding sessions throughout the afternoon; meaning you can take in the music from both stages whilst chilling on the lakes with your friends!
Keeping the contests and party flowing all the way through, Transitions are bringing 2 stages of midday to midnight beats to the party, featuring a range of the UK’s hottest internationally-recognised music talent.
With sets confirmed from artists like Redlight, Toyboy & Robin, Ed Solo, A. Skillz and more, the night is set to finish with a savage set from UK chart-toppers Sigma, who are Bound 2 (see what we did there?) bring the Beats on the Beach stage to a massive end alongside the Cover of Darkness wake comp.
Don’t Miss Out
Transitions is set to be one of the best parties inside the M25 this Summer, so don’t miss out on London’s biggest beach party! Tickets are available on the day, but if you’d rather skip the queues, simply head here to book ahead of time.
We’ll see you on the beach!
